TWINS!!!!!!!!!

On November 2, 2006 at approximately 3:00pm CST we were handed the following picture by our adoption social worker, Christina Ortwein...

WE WERE BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!! In our petition to adopt sent to China back in August 2005 we had written that we would "be honored to accept twins," so we knew twins were a possibility; however, we also knew that referrals for twins are rare and, although we were hopeful, we were not expecting to see 2 beautiful faces.

Their given names are Long Li Tuan and Long Li Yuan and they were born on February 11, 2006. (We like the symmetry of their birthday --2/11-- to the referral day -- 11/2-- kudos to David for being the first to identify that!) We'll provide more on their names in a later post.

The referral package contains documents about our daughters' routines, medical history, etc. that are mostly in Chinese, and our agency is busy translating them as I type. Based on the information we do have available, they are currently in an orphanage in the city of Suichuan, Jiangxi Province. As of their last medical exam in June, they are healthy and happy little girls.

Here are additional photos of our precious little angels...

It has been 2 days since our referral came and we are still overwhelmed with elation. (We are barely able to sleep or eat!) We feel like the luckiest and happiest people on the planet and are so truly honored to be blessed with 2 of China's precious daughters.

The Deck/Scolaro family of 4!!!!

We can't describe to you how excited we are to get our hands on your new family. How blessed you both are as parents and how blessed your babies are to be in such a loving family. Your babies not only have two fantastic people as parents, they have an awsome extended family if I do say so myself. I think we are a fabulous family of cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents. And we all can't wait to integrate the two newest members of the family into our lives and just as Uncle David said so beautifully, "Knit you into the core of our souls".

And I think the absolute best part for your mom and dad, is all the free babysitting!!!!

Seriously though, we love you Chris and Mel. We love the family that you have. And we can't wait to share it with you. And if ever you need parenting advice, the O'Fallon Riley's are always here for you.

Love, Uncle Shane, Aunt Becky, cousins Hannah (babysitter), Sophie (not so much babysitter, teach you how to be sassy ) and Shane (teach you gross boy things).

Your precious daughters....
May they grow, may they learn,
May they work,
May they have food,
May they have shelter,
May they want for nothing;
May the experience success,
May they have happiness,
and may they make this world a better place by just being.

We are so incredibly elated to share in this joy with you. Wow, you are now a beautiful family of 4. We can hardly wait to meet the two newest additions. They are absolutely precious.

"Welcome to your extended Jayhawk family. We look forward to teaching you about waving the wheat, rock chalk, and basketball. We also have some great greenhouse stories to share with you!"

Love - The Olree Gang

Here is how the Guate Deck's first found out about the both of you...

Your Daddy and Mommy called at about 7:05pm on November 2nd. Lily and I were playing and your Aunt Ju-Ju was out at a party. As I was loading my email I asked in anticipatory delight, "Well is it 1 or 2?" Your Daddy replied, "We got the call at 11:00pm." - not answering my question - he then slips in a comment to throw me off, "She is so beautiful."

When I finally saw your picture, I screamed with joy and happiness. You were BOTH so beautiful and instantaneously knitted to the core of my soul.

Aunt Ju-Ju got home around 10:05pm and before she came in from the garage, I called your house and quickly handed the phone to her as she walked in. As soon as she heard it was your parents, she squealed with giddiness. I walked over to the computer and turned it on so that she could see your picture. The squeal turned into an all-out shriek as she couldn't believe her eyes.

We spent the rest of the night sending your pictures to everyone we knew and giggling in complete bliss everytime we saw your beautiful faces.

We can't wait to meet you and hug you and kiss you all over! Véale pronto nuestras hermosas dos sobrinas!

Love,
Uncle Be-Be, Aunt Ju-Ju and Cousin Lily
