AnMei and JiaLi

The burning question can finally be answered... we've decided on names!!!

As you likely know, their current Chinese names are Long Li Tuan and Long Li Yuan. These names were picked by the orphanage.

Long is a common surname in Jiangxi Province and means "dragon," which is a strong and powerful image in Chinese culture. Li means "beautiful," which they clearly got right. Their other names, Tuan and Yuan, actually form a very positive word when put together... Tuan Yuan means "family union."

We loved the Tuan Yuan meaning and decided to keep that as their middle names. As for their first names, we decided that we also wanted to go with Chinese names.

We asked for Dr. Tai if these would be suitable Chinese names, and here is her response:

I love your original and creative ideas for your daughters names. They sounded very good in Chinese with good meaning! I agree with 100% approval.

"My 5 Cents" by David John Deck...

As a spiritual being who believes in divine intervention here on earth, I can't help but point out my take on this journey we are watching unfold.

2 sisters were born in China who needed 1 mother and 1 father to love them forever. I believe these twins were given the names Li Tuan and Li Juan (which as we've read in earlier posts means "family union") to signify the beginning of their journey towards finding their forever family. Another way to illustrate this would be 2 -> 11... also their birthday.

Melissa and Chris were 1 woman and 1 man (both first born's) who had been patiently waiting a long time for the special day. Finally, when the stork arrived with not one but 2 girls, Melissa became a mom and Chris became and dad... twice. Another way to illustrate this would be 11 -> 2... also their referral day.

So here we sit, most likely less then a month away from 'Gotcha Day' or this case 'Union Day'. From what I've heard, there is a very good chance that this family will be united on Christmas Day. Can you think of a better gift to give and receive then the gift of family?

How great is it that on the day when gifts are handed out WITH love, there will actually be the gift OF love?

Christmas will never be the same!

And the rest is still unwritten...
